Construction Materials Senior Engineer

S&ME is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Construction Engineering team in Lexington, KY. As a Senior Engineer in Construction Materials, you will lead and manage mid- to large-scale construction materials testing and inspection projects, ensuring quality standards, compliance, and client satisfaction.
What You Will Do:
As a Senior Engineer in Construction Materials, you will:
* Work closely with clients to understand their project goals and deliver top-notch service and results.
* Cultivate a local client base and expand professional networks to align with revenue and business goals.
* Lead local and regional business development initiatives, enhancing visibility through strategic marketing.
* Develop accurate cost estimates and proposals that meet project specifications, building codes, and client needs.
* Mentor and guide other team members in client engagement and project management.
Who You Are:
* You have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil, Mining, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
* You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kentucky or can obtain it within six months.
* You have 10+ years of experience in Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects.
* You have a strong working knowledge of applicable ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, IBC Special Inspections, and geotechnical recommendations.
* You are willing to work outside as needed, maneuver equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
* Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.
* Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day.
* Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment).
* Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites.
