Job Summary:

This Engineer position will be responsible for guiding development and implementing product selection software changes for in our Airside portfolio, including commercial air handlers and terminal products, based on business needs. This work supports software programs used by the field sales organization, as well as external customers, to select Trane Commercial Systems equipment. It also supports the tools used by commercial sales offices to price, generate documents such as proposals and submittals, and ultimately to order Trane equipment. This position requires a detailed-oriented person who works well both independently and in a team setting. Must have good written communication skills to clearly communicate product selection and ordering requirements to both internal Trane personnel and external customers.

Where is the work:

  • This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

What you will do:

  • Actively monitor and track technical software changes, following up to ensure timely changes are implemented

  • Interface with engineering, operations and product management to gather necessary data for new product options and validation of existing options

  • Data entry product enhancements, line extensions and new product development

  • Complete extensive testing before releasing program updates to the field sales organization and external customers.

  • Work as part of a team to maintain a project schedule for all products.

  • Work as part of a team to support a monthly replication cycle with accurate data and changes.

  • Work as part of a team to support problems reported by sales offices, product support and/or pricing teams.

  • Monthly validation testing of selection software tool

  • Working with internal or external customers in the areas of, but not limited to,technical/systems/application/customer specification questions.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical discipline) is required.

  • Experience in HVAC industry and/or software development is preferred.

  • Tactfulness and assertiveness; must be effective and clear decision-maker under pressure situations; able to deal effectively with the field (customers, sales assistants, account managers).

  • Aptitude to debug, learn and use custom software.

  • Customer driven individual with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Able to recognize developing situations to react and diffuse complaints/potential problems.

  • Understanding of HVAC dynamics

  • Basic understanding of data maintenance system a plus.

  • Ability to work both individually and in cross-functional teams

  • High attention-to-detail and solid communication skills

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $ 65,000 - $85,000

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
