If so, our Defense Systems F35 Sustainment HPSI Operating Unit, wants YOU to join our Team as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic 4 and join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. You will be assigned as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic 4 supporting F-35 Contract Field Team Depot Level at NAS Lemoore, CA .

Your duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :

  • Be able to align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.

  • Perform minor part-fitting operations as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.

  • Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.

  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure.

  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.

  • Perform maintenance, dis-assembly, re-work, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and regulations.

  • Troubleshoot, repairs, and service aircraft systems and conduct diagnosis of malfunctions.

  • Installs detailed parts such as shims, splices, gussets, angles, brackets, doublers, and patches. Modifies major structural components such as ribs, stiffeners, longerons, straps and skins using shop aids to facilitate assembly and installations as required.

  • Modifies composite aircraft parts and assemblies while exercising a complete knowledge of bonding practices, procedures, layouts and understands how to locate parts and material for exacting fit where critical surface contours, edge distances or coordinated dimensions must be established and maintained.

  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings, technical manuals, structure repair manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes.

  • Identifies aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders.

  • Utilizes precision measuring instruments, micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales.

  • Candidate will have extensive and recent experience utilizing tools to include but not limited to drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.

  • Will be familiar with a variety of aircraft materials such as aluminum, steel, titanium, plastic and advanced composites.

  • Additionally, all team members will perform other duties as part of a Contract Field Team (CFT) responsible for depot level modifications performed at customer locations. As part of the CFT, members are expected to assist in other technical disciplines as requested by team leads or management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of 6 years of Aircraft Structural Maintenance experience.

  • Air Force 7 Level or US Navy or Marine Corps CDI, or industry equivalent.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical data.

  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance or higher (US Citizenship required).

  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass required F-35 trainings (Advanced Technical Training and/or Cadre Course) for continued employment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Confined Space and Ground Support Equipment Qualifications in support of F-35 Maintenance. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical data. Able to interpret/translate instructions to mechanics/technicians.

  • Must be willing to provide temporary support to our other operating locations.

  • Able to meet the physical demands of this position, to include: regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist.

  • You must be willing/able to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • F-35 Aircraft Experience

  • Heavy mods or aircraft depot experience

  • Eight or more years of F-22, F-35 or 4th generation aircraft airframes systems maintenance.

  • U. S. Navy, or U. S. Marine Corps experience with thorough understanding of F-35 Fighter Aircraft Systems and operations under COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 and 4790.35.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience in a diverse Military-focused Customer Service-Related Industry.

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office software.

  • Understanding of Nose-to-tail maintenance concept.

Salary Range: $65,600 - $109,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
