Dartmouth Health Central Sterile Reprocessing Education Specialist - Central Sterile Reprocessing Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

Establishes staff education in the area of sterile reprocessing. Ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers educational and training programs for Sterile Processing

  • Provides the technical expertise regarding standards and best practices in the field of Sterile Processing especially as it relates to all appropriate regulatory agencies who govern those standards.

  • Develops training programs for sterile processing. Coordinates the orientation, on the job training, cross training and certification and recertification activities of all CSR personnel.

  • Facilitates educational opportunities in regard to new technology.

  • Performs ongoing competency assessments and training to maintain staff proficiency.

  • Identifies areas for improvement and recommend process enhancements. Collaborates with CSR front line staff to resolve complex issues associated with processes within CSR (work flow, equipment restrictions, etc.)

  • Acts as a mentor and provide professional development opportunities within sterile processing

  • Assists with updates and/or revisions to CSR operational policies, procedures and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies requirements

  • Assists with the auditing process for sterilization and high level disinfection for all applicable external departments at D-H with providing education and support to clinic management and staff

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

  • Initiates and/or supports continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department

Qualifications

  • Associates level college degree or professional equivalent experience required with a minimum of 3 years of directly applicable experience in Sterile Processing or perioperative services.

  • Previous experience in an educator or leadership role is preferred.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of measurement and continuous improvement concepts and applications essential.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of software products such as Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Power Point, Word Visio, etc.

  • Previous experience in management of projects, policy and procedure writing, and interaction with information systems preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Must hold certification in Sterile Processing through HSPA or CBSPD
