THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for coordinating human resources activities and ensuring compliance within our Central and Northern California offices. This position will play a key role in supporting HR initiatives, policies, and procedures while providing tactical guidance for day-to-day HR operations. The HRG will work closely with management and employees to drive effective HR solutions, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure adherence to local and state regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
HR Administration:
First point of contact for employee inquiries regarding human resources administration system, time & attendance, payroll, HR policies, benefits, learning & training programs.
Maintain HR records and other documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Manage the entry of tasks within the human resources administration system (Workday) such as position creation, employee termination, job changes, and other related transactions as may be assigned.
Performance Management: Coordinates performance review processes, providing guidance to managers and employees on goal setting, feedback, and career development.
Employee Engagement: Foster a positive organizational culture by promoting employee engagement initiatives, organizing team-building activities, and providing feedback to management.
Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related concerns, providing guidance on policies, conflict resolution, and general HR inquiries.
Training & Development: Identify opportunities for employee training and development programs to build a skilled and engaged workforce. Partner with Talent & Organizational development teams to organize and communicate training programs.
Compliance & Regulatory Support: Ensure all HR practices comply with California state labor laws and federal regulations. Stay updated on changes in legislation that affect HR policies and procedures.
Recruitment & Onboarding: Provide support to the recruiting processes, including onboarding, using our human capital management system (Workday) to ensure accurate and compliant records & retention.
Mergers & Acquisitions: Provides administrative support as needed.
Total Rewards: Supports compensation initiatives, and rewards & recognition programs.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an HR generalist role, preferably in California or a similar legal jurisdiction.
Knowledge of California state labor laws and federal HR regulations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization effectively.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information.
Human Resources Information System proficiency
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
Workday experience
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
Insurance industry experience preferred, but not required
Proven ability to work with remote locations
Exceptional organizational skills, follow up skills, and attention to detail
Track record of developing and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with clients at all levels of the organization
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and human resources administration systems.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
This position primarily involves remaining in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.
The person in this position frequently communicates with colleagues and clients both in person and on the telephone; Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 - 90,000/yr and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
