Job Information

Nexstar Media Group Morning Show Reporter in Lansing, Michigan

We’re looking for a reporter with multiple personalities.

One of them needs to be a happy-go-lucky type who is comfortable doing everything from ice skating to cooking segments to getting basketball lessons from the Harlem Globetrotters. (No actual ice skating experience required, but you get the idea.) This side of you must have a great sense of humor and can even be a little goofy at times.

Then there’s the other side – a news junkie who is ready to go live from crimes, fires, or other breaking events. You need to be ready to do serious hard news – asking hard questions of officials and sympathetic questions of victims.

And you may need to display both of these personalities in the same show.

The hours? Well, it’s a morning show. So they’re pretty early. And after the morning show, you could be doing anything from fronting stories for the noon show to setting up your live shots for the coming days and weeks.

The Multimedia Journalist Reporter produces, reports, shoots, writes, voices, edits and feeds news production content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.

Live experience is preferred. You’ll be doing lots of it. So if you’re not comfortable live, this isn’t the job for you.

As for us? We are an award-winning CBS affiliate in Lansing that's dedicated to excellence and we have the most-watched morning show in mid-Michigan.

We are home to the state capital, a Big Ten university, and two General Motors plants. Because of that, we've got more news, sports, arts, and culture than markets much bigger than ours. It’s a good place to work.
