Description of Job

The Office of Research and Analysis (ORA) within the Taxation Division is a team of data scientists who collaborate to provide tax data and analytical expertise to division leadership, other executive agencies, legislators, and the public. The team is responsible for preparing and publishing statutorily required taxation reports as well as producing ad hoc reports as requested. These reports provide important data that informs decision making and tax policy.

In this training role, you will learn skills from a team of senior data scientists including how to analyze tax data, prepare reports, and communicate with internal and external customers about tax data. You will learn the team's established procedures and be encouraged to think outside the box because the team is continuously striving to make improvements. In this position, you can expect to continuously gain knowledge and learn new skills, because the team works in a dynamic environment with ongoing tax policy and system changes and ever-changing data needs.

This team thrives on collaboration and relies on peer review to produce accurate analyses for its data users. The team culture is collectivism instead of individualism. All work has shared ownership and is produced collaboratively. Changes to existing products and established processes require team buy-in.
