Summary This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR, Position Description Number D1285000 and is part of the NJ UTES, National Guard. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR, WG-5801-11, you will: Plan and lay out work to be accomplished by shop workers Troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles Perform work in accordance with Modification Work Orders, Technical Manuals, Lubrication Orders, Maintenance Bulletins, Regulations, or management policies. Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or use test equipment Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems Provide technical guidance and team leadership to lower grade employees within the shop Perform operational inspections and ensure vehicles and equipment are properly serviced Requirements Conditions of Employment Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Area of Consideration: CAT 3: All NJ Army National Guard members Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: SGT/E-5 and Max: SFC/E-7 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
