Trustmark is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Applications Solutions Engineer to be a strategic partner to business leaders and IT leadership, owning the end-to-end technical activities for Trustmark’s Small Business Benefits division.

Location: Hybrid - 3 days at our campus in Lake Forest, IL, and 2 days remote

Position Summary: Trustmark Small Business Benefits self-funded health benefit plan provides solutions that deliver cost savings and provider choice for most covered healthcare services. Our portfolio offers other major medical and preventive-only designs, as well as ancillary products, to meet a variety of employer-sponsored benefit needs.

On a day-to-day basis you will be :

• Developing an in-depth understanding of the Small Business Benefits business, relevant technologies, and processes to inform, advise, and own the technical elements of these services with business and IT leadership.

• Leading technical requirements gathering sessions with the Small Business Benefits leadership team, developing and communicating high-level detailed design solutions for complex requirements, driving proof of concepts, defining technical roadmaps and strategies that assess for risk, and alignment to IT best practices.

• Acting as a subject matter expert in the Small Business Benefits technology disciplines, tracking advancement of alternative and emerging solutions, conducting market scans, and championing user adoption of relevant technologies with the business and IT stakeholders.

• Collaborating with cross-functional business, application development support, and shared services teams on the design and implementation of applications.

• Collaborating with users to incorporate feedback and influence the application/product design and functionality.

• Overseeing 3rd party/vendor/managed service provider offshore contracting teams and internal stakeholders from the project initiation to the effective and timely execution of hands-on technical work, ensuring adherence to compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements, resulting in consistent and reliable service delivery.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in engineering and/or applications development OR a high school diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant experience

• Experience as a technical subject matter expert partnering directly with and advising non-technical senior business leaders, including assessing, evaluating, prioritizing and advising on technology solutions to support business needs and drive best practices

• Experience understanding business capabilities and leading technical requirements gathering directly with business and IT partners, developing, and communicating high-level detailed design solutions for complex requirements, driving proof of concepts, and defining technical roadmaps and strategies that assess for risk and alignment to IT best practices

• Demonstrated experience delegating, monitoring, and evaluating the hands-on technical execution of work completed by vendor-based/3rd party/managed service provider and internal teams, directly owning solutions to time, productivity, quality, and best practice standards are met to ensure successful project completion.

• Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall, modern cloud and emerging technologies, APIs, Integrations, SaaS/PaaS, Applications, Policy Administration Systems

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Salesforce, Power BI

• Experience with Microsoft DevOps and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with SDLC Automation

• Experience working with databases

Preferred Qualifications :

• Insurance industry knowledge (life, group, supplemental health, term, employer, broker, etc.)

• Experience with insurance claims processing, adjudication, eligibility, and print services

• Experience with Front and/or Back Office technologies

• Experience with C#, COBOL, Java, JavaScript, Mainframe, .NET, OpenText, and/or Stepwise
