Trustmark Senior Applications Solution Engineer, Customer Service and Commissions in Lake Forest, Illinois

As the Senior A pplications Solutions Engineer for Customer Service and Commissions you will be the technical strategic partner and subject matter expert for these solutions, working directly with the Voluntary Benefits business and IT leadership, owning the end-to-end technical roadmaps, steering the design and implementation of systems and solutions of the Customer Service and Commissions technologies within the Voluntary Benefits Division.

This is a hybrid role with three days a week based at our campus in Lake Forest, IL and two days a week remote.

This includes:

  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the Customer Service and Commissions needs of the Voluntary Benefits business, relevant technologies, and processes to inform, advise, and own the technical elements of these services with business and IT leadership.

  • Leading technical requirements gathering sessions with the Voluntary Benefits leadership team, understanding business capabilities, developing, and communicating high-level detailed design solutions for complex requirements, driving proof of concepts, defining technical roadmaps and strategies, and aligning to IT best practices and priorities.

  • Acting as a subject matter expert in the Customer Service and Commissions technology disciplines, tracking advancement of alternative and emerging solutions, conducting market scans, and championing adaption of relevant technologies with the business and IT stakeholders.

  • Collaborating with cross functional business, architecture, IT, shared service teams and 3rd party/managed service provider/vendors on the design implementation of applications.

  • Collaborating with users to incorporate feedback and influence the application/product design and functionality.

  • Overseeing and managing 3rd party/vendor/offshore/Managed Service Provider contracting teams and internal stakeholders from project initiation through to the effective and timely execution of the hands-on technical work ensuring adherence to compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements, resulting in consistent and reliable service delivery.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6-8 years relevant experience in engineering and/or applications development OR a high school diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant experience.

  • Experience partnering directly with and advising non-technical senior business leaders as a technical subject matter expert, including assessing, evaluating, and prioritizing technology solutions to support business needs to drive best practices.

  • Experience understanding business capabilities and as input to develop and drive strategic technology roadmaps, leading technical requirements gathering with business and IT partners, developing, and communicating high-level detailed design solutions for complex requirements, driving proof of concepts, and defining technical roadmaps and strategies that assess for risk and alignment to IT best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability delegating, monitoring, evaluating the hands-on technical execution of work completed by both internal and vendor-based/3rd party/managed service provider teams, directly owning solutions to ensure time, productivity, quality, and best practice standards are met to ensure successful project completion.

  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall, modern cloud and emerging technologies, API’s, Integrations, SaaS/PaaS, Applications, Policy Administration Systems

  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps

  • Experience with SDLC Automation

  • Experience working with databases

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Insurance industry knowledge (life, group, supplemental health, term, employer, broker, etc.)

  • Experience with workflow technologies, i.e., Pega

  • Experience with various distribution channels

  • Experience with emerging tech i.e., AI, Data Lake, Automation

  • Experience with commissions technology

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or other digital contact center, omni-channel servicing capabilities (chat, text, email, phone)
