The Central Communications Division is seeking candidates for all Telecommunicator certification levels. Candidates work involves the responsibility for operating on an assigned shift, answering emergency and public safety telephone calls for assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services and rescue for the County and City. Candidates for employment must be alert, show tact and decorum, while performing duties with specific instructions, policies and directions set forth by the Emergency Services Director. Rotating shift and weekend work is essential for this position as well. This position is considered essential and requires reporting to work for inclement weather and as other needs arise within the division.

Minimum Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- Possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Pass a Drug Screen and extensive background check (criminal and civil)
- Must be able to answer multiple 911 lines and dispatch for Lenoir and Jones Counties

Hiring Range:
- Telecommunicator I (No experience; No certification) - $18.48/Hr.
- Telecommunicator I (2 of 5 Required Certifications) - $19.42/Hr.
- Telecommunicator II (3 of 5 Required Certifications) - $20.41/Hr.
- Telecommunicator III (5 Required Certifications) - $21.97/Hr.
