Job Description Summary
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Role Purpose / Mission

In this role you will be part of the team that handles integration and regression testing, field testing, and field issue resolution for the Controls Subsystem. You will impact quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Controls Quality team and have significant input into priorities. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
Essential Responsibilities
Review and approve test cases and perform controls software validation.
Identify and manage test configurations for applicable target platforms.
Execute wind turbine controls system testing.
Analyze test failures to identify root cause and create issues for tracking and resolution.
Create engineering documentation in ELM for test plans, results, and issues.
Occasionally travel to site to support product testing and/or customer issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited University.
Desired

Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.

Solid understanding of programming basics
Experience in one of more of the following areas demonstrated through course work, internships, or other experiences: control systems and algorithm design, software development for embedded systems, PLC platforms and communication protocols, sensors, signal processing
Wind Turbine Technology Experience is a strong plus but not required
Experience in any of the following adjacent fields: Power Systems, Multi-Body Dynamics, Data Science, Systems Engineering, SW Development Methods such as Verification & Validation, version control, DevOps
Experience with Model-Based Design techniques using Mathworks Simulink or comparable tool
Passionate about renewable energy and/or sustainability
