We are looking for:

  • Supervising the activities of production, maintenance staff and contractors performing work within the plant. Ensuring production targets are achieved in a safe, cost-efficient and customer-focused manner.

  • Developing daily plans to ensure efficient utilization of plant manpower and resources.

We count on you for:

  • Ensuring plant operations are conducted in a manner that maximizes the safety of the employees and surrounding community by adhering to regulated standards and requirements; exhibiting a commitment to RC-14001 Responsible Care

  • making repeated plant rounds to monitor and address operational concerns

  • providing training to operators including, but not limited to: Lead Operator Training, HSE (regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, and process safety management), Detailed Operating Procedures (DOPs), Management of Change (MOC) notifications and other areas as required

  • completing documentation in accordance with site policies

  • working with Quality to maintain DOPs and other required documentation to ensure ISO and OSHA and regulatory compliance

  • scheduling, prioritizing, assigning and expediting maintenance activities (PM’s, work orders, labor hours, requisitions, receiving)

  • initiating and developing plans to address Visual Safety Leadership (VSL), housekeeping and contractor audits

  • submitting material requirements to the Production Coordinator; entering purchase orders (POs); receiving SO receipts for blanket POs

  • assisting with maintenance shutdowns

  • monitoring raw material usage and ensuring replenishment, as required

  • facilitating teamwork, performance management, problem-solving and corrective action within the department

  • overseeing and coordinating attendance tracking, performance management, timekeeping, overtime assignment, and other administrative duties

  • completing monthly reports accurately and in a timely manner

  • recommending or initiating personnel actions and administering company policies for the department

  • supporting site projects and performing other duties as needed including some lab analysis

  • ability to work night shift

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities:

  • following all site safety rules and procedures

  • leading by example and holding others accountable for all Syensqo HSE policies

  • completing HSE inspections; reporting findings; developing and implementing actions plans to address inspection findings

  • participating in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, Critical Task Analyses, monthly safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses and other risk reduction processes by lending experience and knowledge

  • participating in incident investigations and implementing corrective actions learned from the investigation process

  • participating in applicable Kalamazoo site HSE initiatives

You will bring:

  • 5 years’ related manufacturing experience in a chemical manufacturing environment; 2 years as a supervisor preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree a plus

  • recognized expertise in elements of continuous improvement and demonstrated success in leading significant change through an organization

  • must be customer-focused, organized, detailed, results-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • broadly knowledgeable and experienced with lean manufacturing and problem-solving techniques, employee-based decision processes, change management and integrated data/metric systems

  • success working in a matrix organization in a chemical business, and demonstrated success in developing, implementing and leading use of best practice work processes

  • analytical skills including root cause and consensus building to develop corrective actions to resolve open issues

  • highly evolved communication skills (verbal, written, computer)

  • peer auditing and participative/lead roles within audit actions

  • must have the ability to transition from technical task to strategic-based on daily operational needs

  • must have customer relations and community involvement skills related to advocacy for corporate initiatives

  • must be able to establish relationships across all levels of the organization, both internal and external to the site

  • ability to work in a collaborative environment, but willing to take a hands-on approach with daily issues

  • ability to utilize computer applications, including but not limited to: MS Office suite, KRONOS, SAP, LIMS, BPICS, PI, NCDB and other applications, as required

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $88,000 to $96,000 per year Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
