Position Summary:
Arkansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in teaching Companion Animal Clinical and Surgical Skills. This will be a 12-month, full time, non-tenure track, Assistant or Associate Professor position. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This will be a predominantly teaching position (85% teaching) and include research/scholarly activities and service. Teaching of DVM students will be in a competency-based veterinary curriculum incorporating lecture, lab and small group learning.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach small animal clinical and surgical skills to DVM students using models, simulations, specimens, and live animals
Work with other clinical skill veterinarians and staff
Contribute to competency-based curriculum development with a focus on small animal clinical and surgical skills across years 1-4 of the DVM curriculum
Manage laboratory support personnel
Develop a plan for procuring and creating small animal models to support the clinical skills program
Prepare and manage small animal IACUC teaching protocols
Lead development and implementation of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and other skills-based assessments
Contribute to college and university committees and/or serve on regional or national professional organizations
Contribute to scholarly endeavors through collaborative educational research and/or educational innovations
Contribute to classroom instruction of DVM students (large and small groups)
Other duties as assigned

Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff
Ability to communicate effectively across CVM stakeholders
Ability to prioritize tasks, deliver results in a timely manner and function independently
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications:
Board certification in a small animal specialty (e.g., ABVP, ACVS)
Two years of teaching experience
Experience in competency-based veterinary education
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned DVM or equivalent
