The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans’ population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative service in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
This position is located in the Housekeeping Department of the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.PRN/WAE/Part Time appointments are available. WAEs are not to exceed 1245 work hours in a 12 month period.
The Custodian 1 position pay depends upon experience plus $2.00 per hour physically worked.

Examples of Work
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
Empties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
Learns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
Assists in setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions.
Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
Operates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
Reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
Washes, dries, folds, and issues clothing, linens, etc. as assigned.
May perform basic grounds work by picking up trash, watering plants, etc.
