GA Family Services - Foster Care Supervisor
Reports To: Director of Foster Care
Job Type: This full-time position requires a minimum 8 hours per day 40 per week.
Salary: $56,245 to $65,045 annually, commensurate with degree level obtained and years of experience.
Purpose of this position:
The Foster Care Supervisor is responsible for overseeing activities of agency foster care workers, IL skill builders, and transporters to assure the provision of high-quality, family-driven, and youth-guided services in accord with policies and regulations of the agency and OCFS. This role supports foster care staff in their efforts to provide safety, permanency, and well-being for all youth in foster care, as well as their parents and foster parents. This position is responsible for the supervision of foster care case workers and case planners in all GA locations, providing support to foster care staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) with 2 years of professional experience in child welfare/foster care setting preferred
Experience working with adolescents in therapeutic settings preferred
Working knowledge of Foster Care Programming preferred
Valid NYS driver's license required
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of child welfare/foster care experience may be considered
Job Description:

Meets regularly with direct reports to teach, supervise, motivate and reinforce their work, including planned supervision every other week.
Maintains high standards and expectations to ensure a quality treatment program.
Assures compliance with OCFS regulations.
Assures case work staff completes required paperwork in a timely manner and that it reflects the due diligence and other standards set by OCFS, DSS, and the court.
Assures that on-call and other crisis/conflict situations are responded to immediately, are thoroughly debriefed to mitigate future risk and Incident Reporting is completed.
Coordinates the hiring process for new foster care staff with HR and ensures the onboarding process is thorough with the guidance of the Foster Care Director
Integrates solution focused trauma informed care language and principles into meetings and supervisory sessions.
Provides 24 hour per day emergency back-up to staff and notifies the chain of command when appropriate.
Participates in interviewing for new foster care staff with Foster Care Director
Utilizes the employee disciplinary process as needed.
Ensures the smooth daily functioning of the office.
Manages supervised visitation schedules for foster care cases and supports in visit coverage as needed.
Participates in the development, ongoing maintenance and review of FASP’s, Permanency Reports, and Court Reports.
Provides input on pre-admission services to referring agencies including: taking referrals, referral collaboration, matching, and client placement.
Promotes understanding and acceptance of diversity within the agency by providing education and guidance to youth and staff.
Provides resources, support and supervision to Caseworkers and the program (i.e. possible group co-facilitation, crisis management, and placement disruption prevention)
Helps facilitate foster parent retention/recruitment events, as needed.
Is on call for emergencies and assists in crisis situations.
Collaborates with other community agencies, both public and private to enhance community service integration as needed.
Facilitates the interdisciplinary team concept throughout all aspects of GA, and attends staff meetings in all offices.
Provides communication to the management team regarding activities within their responsibility.
Travels in personal vehicle as required
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.
As regulations and programmatic changes occur responsibilities may change to meet these needs and requirements.
Operates basic office equipment including telephone, computer, fax, copier, calculator.
Safety – Follows required safety procedures.
In-services – Attends all required in-service training and obtain required CEU’s to maintain licensure.
GAFS Organizational Responsibilities
