This vacancy is located within theMedical Services department at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA (East Feliciana Parish). ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.

The position will physically work at Villa Feliciana Medical Complex

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current Louisiana Radiologic Technologist license or temporary permit plus two years of experience as a licensed radiologic technologist.

To perform specialized modality radiological imaging services.

Level of Work:

Advanced.

Supervision Received:

General from Radiologic Technologist Supervisor or higher-level personnel.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Location of Work:

Statewide in a hospital, education, health care, or correctional facility.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Radiologic Technologist 2 by the presence of specialized modality imaging and advanced credentialing, such as CT, MRI, mammography, Bone Dosimetry, or special procedures.

Differs from Radiologic Technologist Supervisor by the absence of direct-line supervision over two (2) or more Radiologic Technologists.

Examples of Work

Performs imaging services in one or more specialized modalities, such as; CT, MRI, mammography, or Special Procedures, for which advanced credentials are required.

Performs daily equipment checks to ensure that radiographic equipment is safe and ready to use.

Assists in troubleshooting equipment problems.

Selects and operates equipment and accessories on an individual patient basis.

Perform radiographic and/or fluoroscopic images including advanced level modalities such as cross sectional imaging and angiography.

Differentiates between film, CR and DR imaging and is able to recommend technique changes to ensure consistent image quality.

Positions patient to obtain proper anatomical part which has been ordered by the physician.

Reviews images for quality/positioning, may make recommendations for improvement.

Verifies that digital images are properly matched to the patient and that the image quality is acceptable.

Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

Performs preventive and repair maintenance on equipment.

Performs and logs quality control inspections.
