Boehringer Ingelheim (Trainee) Lab Scientist DNA Virology (m/f/d) in Innsbruck, Austria

Our research team is looking for a highly motivated (Trainee) Lab Scientist DNA Virology.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Independent work in research projects to optimize our proprietary oncolytic virus (OV)/cancer vaccine platforms for (pre‐) clinical development

  • Evaluation and optimization of new concepts in OV-based cancer immunotherapies

  • Cloning and recovery of recombinant OVs

  • Characterization of newly generated OVs with molecular and cell biology tests, and validation of new test methods

  • Creation and processing of standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as project and study plans

  • Evaluation and documentation of results and data presentation in project teams

  • Support the BSL2 laboratory organization

Requirements

  • Master/diploma degree in biotechnology, microbiology, or equivalent, professional experience in molecular virology of DNA viruses is an advantage

  • Hands- on experience and good knowledge in mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques (western blot, PCR/qPCR, molecular cloning)

  • Ability to independently plan, execute, evaluate, and document experiments

  • Willingness to work proactively with hands-on approach in a highly entrepreneurial environment

  • Team player with clear communication skills to integrate in a multi-disciplinary, lively, and flexible team

  • The position requires English communication skills, both spoken and written. German language skills would be highly appreciated (otherwise willingness to learn German).

  • Proficient use of MS‐Office

The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for this position is EUR 50.000 (full time), although the actual salary is based on your technical skills and personal competencies as well as your professional experience.
