Amentum Construction Scheduling Manager in Idaho Falls, Idaho

Our Nuclear Projects group is a Tier 1 provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering, and construction. We are looking to add a Construction Scheduler Manager to our growing team on our project located in Scoville, ID which is approximately 55 miles outside of Idaho Falls.

The Scheduling Manager is responsible for providing direction, oversight, guidance and support to all schedulers supporting the Spent Fuel Handling Project at the Naval Reactors Facility of Idaho National Lab. Leads development and maintenance of reports, procedures and work processes for Planning and Scheduling. This position reports to the Project Controls Manager. Works with Operations and Project leadership including the Project Manager, Project Controls Manager, Construction Manager and Engineering Manager as required to develop and maintain schedules and procedures. The Scheduling Manager must be experienced in the creation, development, maintenance and presentation of project schedule(s) throughout a project’s entire life cycle.

Primary Duties:

  • Independently develop, review, analyze and maintain project schedules in an efficient and comprehensive manner and ensure they follow the Critical Path Method (CPM) at all stages and follow a construction-driven approach

  • Develop schedules as required to support proposals for new projects

  • Provide leadership to support the following project needs:

  • Delivery and maintenance of realistic plans and control structures for each project. Understand the list of plans required to execute the assigned project and their interface to other projects or contractors

  • Provide leadership and training for the scheduling team members. This role will be responsible for the performance of those within the group as well as creating a positive team environment

  • Development of the activities, logic, resource loading and progress to provide a fully integrated project schedule, leading to the creation of the baseline schedule and its subsequent maintenance and reporting

  • Review and verification that subcontractor updates are properly integrated to the schedule

  • Verifying that the updates are an accurate representation of the work accomplished

  • Create training material to unify the schedulers methods and processes to create standardization of reports

  • Develop project schedule layouts in conjunction with the project team, alternate schedules, and progress measurement of the schedule

  • Review change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of the project

  • Consolidate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and “What if scenarios” to aid project management decision-making

  • Deliver close-out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation) at completion of work. Maintain historical database of scheduling activities and activity durations

  • Develop Schedule Basis narrative to document how project plan was developed

  • Interacts / Works with Discipline leaders to plan the sequence of Engineering, Procurement and Construction activities including fabrication, assembly, installation, and other operations for guidance of downstream workers

  • Work with Project Controls Manager to continuously improve the efforts and reporting of the team

  • Manage the day-to-day efforts of the team working under the direction of the Project Controls Manager

Qualifications:

  • Must be a senior scheduling professional utilizing P6

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, but relevant work experience and training are a top priority

  • A comprehensive understanding of large-scale engineering, procurement and construction processes including the logic, scope sequences, fabrication shop load requirements, and subcontract requirements / interfaces

  • Understanding of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles

  • Comprehensive understanding of Project Controls requirements, process and procedures

  • Ability to direct, follow direction and lead other planner and scheduling employees.

  • Ability to work together with Client and other Contract representatives as part of a group, the ability to accurately communicate ideas, instructions, questions, problems, solutions

Requirements:

  • Must have proficiency using Primavera P6 (Certified P6 basic training module and Certified P6 advanced training module preferred, but applicable work experience will be accepted)

  • Experience with DOE Order 413.3B scheduling best practices

  • Familiar with GAO Scheduling best practices

  • Experience with analyzing and integrating subcontractor schedules into an integrated master schedule

  • Strong skills in MS Office suite of software (emphasis on Excel skills)

Essential Functions:

• Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.

Other Essential Functions:

• U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must take and pass a pre-employment drug, background check and site security badge screening.
