Specialist Software Engineer (Sr. UI Developer)

What you will do

In this role, as a UI Developer you will be responsible for programming components, features, and feature sets. This role requires working independently and contributing to the immediate team and other teams across the business. The UI Developer will also contribute to design discussions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast-paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure.

• Work with Product Managers and Product Owners to understand product requirements and vision.

• Translate requirements and vision into a prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards.

• Collaborate with product owners and architects to develop multi-generation software technology plans.

• Drive increased efficiency across teams, eliminating duplication and leveraging product and technology reuse.

• Support process improvements that guide development, sustaining, and support activities.

• Ensure world-class quality in the development and support of products.

• Understand performance parameters and assess application performance.

• Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, Refactoring, and Testing Techniques.

• Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the selected technology for the project.

• Proactively share information across the team with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

• Specializes in crafting custom frontend web applications and Web Components. Proficiency in React framework, HTML5, and CSS. Extensive experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services.

• Experience with RDBMS like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.

• Experience with version control tools like Git.

• Understanding of DevOps practices and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 5-7 members.

• Work cross-functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables.

• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

• Ability to understand issues, present clear rationale, and influence outcomes.

• Identifies misalignments with goals and makes suggestions to course correct.

• Continuously measures deliverables against scheduled commitments and balances competing objectives.

• Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jest and others.

Education and Professional Certifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or STEM majors with a minimum of 5 years of Information Systems experience OR

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM majors with a minimum of 7 years of Information Systems experience.

• AWS Developer certification (preferred)

• Any SAFe Agile certification (preferred)

• Initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems.

• Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements, and estimating efforts.

• Awareness of industry trends.

• Ability to analyze the impact of technology choices.
