Brief Job Overview

The Sr. Director of Digital and Data Services will establish and lead USP's India Digital and Data Services capabilities in collaboration with USP’s Digital & Innovation division, global Analytics teams, and Global Information Systems teams. The objective of the role is to advance the data management capabilities, enhance the potential for data-driven decision-making, foster innovation, and accelerate the growth of USP's digital products, such as USP-ID and Medicine Supply Map. This role will functionally report to the US-based Sr. VP of Digital & Innovation and administratively report Sr. VP and India Site Head.

The Sr. Director of Digital and Data Services has the following responsibilities:

  • India D&A hub management

  • Develop the India D&A hub with a view of short to long-term organizational goals for data and analytics.

  • Manage the growth of the team, instill USP culture, and drive visibility of the India Digital and Data Services capability across the organization.

  • Team management

  • Build and lead the Digital and Data Services team with subject matter expertise in niche areas where USP plays a market leading role (e.g. Chemical Informatics).

  • Collaborate with HR to drive leading practices for talent attraction and retention.

  • Stakeholder management

  • Cultivate and foster partnerships with function heads and lines of business to drive strategic initiatives and enhance business value.

  • Work with relevant internal departments to develop integrated solutions and sustainable processes for growth.

  • Represent the Hyderabad hub as a key member of the Leadership Team for the Digital & Innovation division.

  • Ecosystem build

  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, proactive stakeholder engagement, and a bias for action across all team members.

  • Lead development of and adherence to data governance initiatives to ensure data quality, accuracy, and security.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data infrastructure, systems, and tools are optimized to support efficient data collection, storage, and analysis.

  • Drive data architectural improvement initiatives for new and legacy systems.

  • Thought leadership

  • Create and drive thought leadership content, seeking speaking opportunities to enhance the India Digital and Data Services hub's presence within USP and relevant talent markets.

  • Provide strategic input to USP’s Data Integration Office (DIO) on industry best practices for data governance.

  • New initiatives

  • Operate in a build-learn-iterate model to identify and prioritize new digital initiatives based on USP’s focus areas.

  • Support USP’s digital product development ambitions.

  • P&L management

  • Define and manage budgets, and set cost optimization targets for team.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Master's degree in Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in data analytics and / or data science, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Experience in building and leading a Center of Excellence (CoE).

  • Proven track record of successfully leading analytics teams to deliver impactful insights and data-driven recommendations.

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices, having experience in leading data governance & data management programs.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Industry certifications in the pharmaceutical space.

  • Domain expertise in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards in the pharmaceutical space.

  • Experience in a global organization, including in a GCC set-up.

  • PhD in a relevant technical field.

  • Leadership skills, including people management, solution-oriented mindset, excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to bridge the gap between the analytics teams and enabling technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to facilitate trust and credibility with ecosystem players, clients and internal teams.

  • Effectively lead teams through change & transitions.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset. Go-getter and ambitious.

  • Negotiation and persuasion skills. Win-win approach.

  • Constant learner who consistently looks for ways to improve, re-strategize (if the situation so demands), re-focus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Yes. Develop, manage and lead a team of 16 to 20 people. Team would consist of a mix of following resources: Data Architect, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Quality and Data Governance Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Visualization Engineers.
