General Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Mass Communications, Communications, or a related field. One year of experience in Social Media management, Web-design and editing, Photography, Event Planning, or Marketing, or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs semi-complex administrative and supervisory program work creating digital content, through video, photography, and graphic design to promote the Sam Houston State University Career Success Center programs and brand awareness across multiple platforms.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Responsible for the management and creation of video, photo, and graphic design content for the Career Success Center and it’s events. Manages all social media channels for the Career Success Center – Facebook, Snapchat, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Collaborates with office staff in the production of content. Documents office events and activities through the creating and curating of photos and video content. Creatively thinks and translates ideas into sharable content that connects with target audiences. Assists with development of content strategy across relevant channels. Shares created digital content through various social media platforms. Utilizes modern design aesthetics, information, and public design. Responsible for design in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva. Performs the planning and producing of graphics for flyers, social media posts, and photo/video shoots and completes all post-production processing. Works creatively under the pressure of short deadlines. Maintains camera equipment and makes recommendations regarding photographic equipment and supplies as needed. Manages the Professional Headshots event for the Career Success Center which is hosted once in the fall and once in the spring. Trains others in job tasks pertinent to photography/videography/design and may supervisor student workers. Maintains the Career Success Center website and makes updates to pages as requested or needed. Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence. Adheres to University branding guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned.
