Strategic Development Manager

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Strategic Development Manager who will be responsible for leading core initiatives of Sustainable Technology Solutions’ (‘STS’) strategic vision. Key aspects of the role include communicating STS’ view of global markets, competitors, and peers both internally and externally; identifying, developing, and securing inorganic growth opportunities via alliances and partnerships; identifying and quantifying acquisition opportunities; providing the STS business units with guidance in planning and achievement of strategic targets; and interfacing at the Business Unit (‘BU’), Global and Executive Leadership levels of KBR. The Strategic Development Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Strategic Development but is expected to operate with agility in the role to lead short duration, high intensity activities alongside globally located team members.

You will be expected to communicate on technical and commercial matters openly while interfacing with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and third parties to deliver unique insights into the businesses and provide timely and actionable intelligence to internal stakeholders, while managing and driving KBR internal processes across functions and regions.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Market Approach Strategy: Guide the analysis of core, adjacent, and new KBR markets by looking for trends and identifying the underlying factors that drive those trends. Facilitate closing any gaps in information. From the analysis, develop the engagement strategy for each market by interfacing with relevant stakeholders.

  • Competitor Trending: Based on market trends and movements, provide guidance on how competitors are positioned at the macro level to relevant stakeholders across all STS business lines.

  • Securing Alliances & Partnerships: Lead the identification, evaluation, and engagement to secure inorganic growth opportunities through structured and unstructured relationships consistent with KBR’s overall strategic vision. Drive business unit level support for engagements including interfacing with the relevant business partners to facilitate KBR internal processes through relationship close.

  • Acquisition Opportunity Development: Identify, qualify, quantify, and champion opportunities for inorganic growth through acquisition by developing, reinforcing, and promoting the business value proposition of specific opportunities. Liaise with and support relevant business and corporate partners as part of the acquisition term.

  • BU Support: Provide guidance to STS business units in furtherance of their alignment with strategic priorities.

  • Compliance: Maintains full compliance with KBR code of business conduct. Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all governmental regulations and corporate safety guidelines. Proactively directs continuous improvement efforts in the areas of risk reduction and the elimination of potential hazards.

  • Travel: Domestic and International Travel up to 40%

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Personal Characteristics: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Soft skills in facilitating, influencing and innovative problem solving are critical. Able to manage multiple projects with potentially conflicting priorities simultaneously. Comfortable with interacting at the senior and executive management levels.

  • 10+ years total experience to include at least 5 years of experience in technical sales, technology licensing, business operations, and/or strategic consulting in the hydrocarbon, energy, and energy transition industries. Experience in financial analysis and strategic marketing is meaningful benefit.

  • Experience in hydrocarbon or process technology or related technical offerings with comfort and capability to discuss at third party management level.

  • B.S. in a technical discipline, MBA preferred.
