Honeywell Sr Technology Specialist - Hydroprocessing & Renewables in Houston, Texas

The Sr. Technology Specialist role in the Technology Services Department is a dynamic position focused on providing technical support to licensed and non-licensed customers in Hydroprocessing & Renewables Technologies, including Naphtha/Distillates/VGO/Pygas Hydrotreating, VGO/Distillates Hydrocracking, and Ecofining.

Key responsibilities include ensuring customer satisfaction, understanding their needs, and fostering strong relationships while collaborating with global teams and Service Managers. The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, independent work skills, and effective communication, with regular interaction with both external customers and Honeywell UOP personnel worldwide. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Technology Services - EAFSU, with close coordination with Des Plaines Technology Services Managers.

LOCATION: This role is on a hybrid working schedule and can be based from our Des Plaines, IL or Houston, TX location.

RELOCATION PACKAGE: This role is offering a generous relocation package for candidates who reside 50 miles or more from the working location.

The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as a trusted advisor for Hydroprocessing & Renewables technologies, providing expert technical support for new unit start-ups, turnarounds, and troubleshooting, both remotely and on-site.

• Ensure health and safety compliance through routine training, incident reviews, and active participation in Safety Management Teams (SMS).

• Evaluate commercial operations, identify design improvements, and communicate Honeywell UOP recommendations to help customers achieve their goals.

• Provide field support as part of the Field Service Reserve (FSR), serving as the main Technical Advisor or in a training capacity.

• Participate in engineering reviews, including Design Basis, PFD, P&ID, and HAZOP meetings, while mentoring less experienced engineers.

• Develop and present training materials, update process manuals, and lead or contribute to technical committees and industry forums.

• Champion innovation by supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, collaborating with R&D, and validating commercial data.

• Drive productivity and knowledge sharing through internal infrastructure projects, supporting IIoT and Connected Services initiatives.

• Assist in the development of yield estimates, technical proposals, and catalyst reload or revamp opportunities, while supporting sales through customer insights.

• Ensure Customer Care Excellence (CCE) by providing best-in-class service, capturing knowledge, and fostering strong customer relationships via Salesforce.com (SFDC).

• Identify and champion new business opportunities and ideas to meet Honeywell UOP’s strategic goals and Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Lead resolution projects as needed.

• Perform physical inspections, including climbing, crawling, and walking on pressure vessels, distillation columns, tanks, and piping.

• Travel up to 25% of the time.

YOU MUST HAVE:

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

•5+ years of broad refinery experience providing extensive knowledge of refining technologies, equipment, and operations.

•2+ years of experience with Hydroprocessing & Renewables technologies in technical support or operations.
