Position Description

DESCRIPTION:

The ideal candidate is degreed with solid accounting experience, has a strong working knowledge of the energy industry and is able to work with the accounting team and all levels of staff and management to handle or assist with various accounting & finance functions in the products pipe line business. Candidates with strong analytical skills and a preference for a challenging and fast-paced work environment will be successful in this position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and assist with monthly close procedures for the SE region including monthly customer invoicing for assigned business and preparation of various journal entries

  • Analyze and explain monthly variances to forecast and quarterly flux variances

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements

  • Understand revenue and expense accounting recognition principles

  • Review and analyze contracts for accuracy in the monthly invoicing process

  • Understand KM’s ASC 606 and 842 requirements that relate to the recording of revenue for the region and prepare quarterly revenue reports related to ASC 606

  • Ensure that all Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls, as well as other internal controls are being followed

  • Support regional management team, business development and corporate accounting with various ad hoc reporting and revenue/expense analysis

  • Assist in responding to various audit requests, including SOX internal audits and external audits

  • Cross train duties with other accounting personnel as needed

  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance

  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public

    Position Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution is required

  • 3 – 5+ years of GL accounting experience

  • 5-Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with ability to solve complex problems through solution-oriented analysis and cost effective solutions

  • Exhibit a high degree of initiative and ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision

  • Must possess and demonstrate strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels, internally and externally

  • Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize daily work (individual and department, as applicable), reprioritize on short notice, self-motivation and ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines

  • Ability to work overtime during high volume periods, including but not limited to month/quarter/year end close

  • A team player who also works well independently, take direction from supervisor(s) and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel

  • Working knowledge of Lawson preferred

  • Working experience in the Oil and Gas industry preferred
