Queen's Health System Wound Care RN (Part-Time, Day, 24) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides clinical consultation to Patient Care Team to facilitate coordination of wound care across the continuum for wound center patients.

• For patients admitted to the inpatient setting, the Wound Care Registered Nurse provides a report to the inpatient wound nurse regarding wound center treatment plan, wound healing progress and long-range goals.

• Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing a caseload of wound center patients, thorough assessment, patient/family education and advocacy, treatment planning, resource management and discharge planning.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: lifting up to 5-10 lb., seeing, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering.

• Continuous: standing, walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling.

• Frequent: pushing and pulling up to 30 psi, lifting up to 10 lbs., sitting, bending, squatting, twisting.

• Occasional: pushing and pulling up to 70 psi; lifting: horizontal lift/carry up to 75 lbs. with assistance, floor to waist up to 35 lbs., waist to shoulder up to 25 lbs., overhead level up to 15 lbs.; carrying up to 35 lbs, running, climbing, side bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching.

• Operates various machines/tools/work aids.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• May be exposed to body fluids, blood products, and communicable diseases.

• Work environment may be highly stressful, fast paced and hectic.

• May be subjected to patients with behavior health conditions.

• May be subjected to heavy patients requiring transfer to and from wound center chair or table.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.

• Current Hawaii State License as a Registered Nurse.

• Current certification in one (1) of the following wound certifications strongly preferred:

o Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB):

 Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN)

 Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)

 Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)

o American Board of Wound Management (ABWM):

 Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)

o National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO):

 Wound Care Certified (WCC)

• Current certification in Basic Life Support at the Healthcare Professional Level.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Two (2) years clinical nursing experience.
