BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The P MB PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION SERVICES Department of the P OPERATIONS PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island (Role: Manager Supervisor)
JOB FUNCTION:
Manages all administrative activities to optimize the reliability and efficiency of the transmission and distribution system. Responsible for financial administration of the Operations Planning and Construction Management (OPCM) T&D Services Department and ensures compliance with Department policies and procedures, state and federal rules and regulationsas well as supporting with the utilization of T&D services to monitor, optimize and perform all activities needed to efficienlty assist and support O&M capital programs and projects. Lead technical advisor on process flow and process improvement for the OPCM T&D Services Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages and evaluates Department’s capital and O&M programs. Meets, discusses, coordinates and negotiates with parties inside and outside the Department to maintain/expedite progress on OPCM projects and programs. Coordinates and supports Department response for special projects and investigations (i.e., strategic planning, strike response planning, technical and engineering problems analyses, root cause analyses, etc.).
Manages, plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises and directs operations and administration of OPCM. Strategic Asset Planning will continually identify T&D infrastructure vulnerabilities and develop strategies to address them through inspection plans or proposed design improvements,
Lead technical advisor on process flow and process improvement for the OPCM Department departments such as Asset Management, Test and Substation, Engineering and Customer Installations, System Operation and Support Services, including the use of mobility tools.
Supports (through the assistance of T&D services to vegetation ) Vegetation Management in planning and managing the functions and activities of the Vegetation Management Program and its personnel in the contracting and management of vegetation contract services and management of system-wide Vegetation Management Program (S/VMP).
Oversees and supports the Environmental Compliance Engineer in the implementation and maintenance of the tactical environmental compliance programs at the facilities on all environmental compliance matters involving the Energy Delivery process area.
Manages and administers all personnel matters of a portion of the Department, including performance appraisals and interviews; recognition of employee achievements; and disciplinary actions. Ensures the safety and coordinates the training of all personnel under supervision.
Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
Thorough knowledge of applicable (overhead and/or underground) transmission and distribution engineering standards and work practices; inspection and maintenance program development/implementation; training program development/implementation.
Comprehensive knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes (including annual Operating Forecast; Capital Budgets; vehicle, equipment, tools; office furniture and equipment; etc.)
Working knowledge of personal computers and/or mainframe systems and related software applications (i.e., spreadsheets, word processing, database management, etc.)
Knowledge of the union contract, Company policies, department policies and practices.
Skills Requirements
Demonstrated leadership skills including effective written, oral and listening communication skills; conflict resolution skills; the willingness and ability to train.
Supports two-way communications to ensure a focused well informed workforce. Promotes teamwork and self-directed workforce to support company initiatives.
Troubleshooting skills to determine operating and maintenance problems with the units and equipment.
Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Ability to handle difficult or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.
Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
Experience Requirements
Extensive (7+) years of field or design experience in the construction., installation, and maintenance of transmission and distribution facilities and equipment.
Several years (3-5) of related work experience in a supervisory capacity.
Multiple years (3-5) of related experience in preparing capital or operating and maintenance budgets and managing expenses preferred.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Superintendent, T&D Services - Oahu, Maui or Hawai'i Island [Req ID 9347] position is $118,200.00 to $153,600.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
