BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The P FB BENEFITS Department of the P HR OPERATIONS Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: PROFESSIONAL)
JOB FUNCTION:
Provide customer service and support in response to all benefit-related inquiries from employees and retirees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supports the Benefits team as the initial point of contact for inquiries received by the Benefits email and phone line, as well as inquiries escalated by the HR Service Center. Investigates and timely responds to all inquiries. Monitor and track inquiries and responses received by the Benefits Division.
Collects and verifies documents received during the Open Enrollment period. Processes any documents as needed.
Assemble and mail out Open Enrollment packets for non-flex participants. Track receipt of enrollment forms.
Assists with mailing out documents requested by employees and retirees as needed during Open Enrollment and post-Open Enrollment.
Assist Benefit team members with various tasks as needed, including processing certain employment event changes, collecting and depositing employee and retiree contributions, completing Qualified Medical Child Support Orders.
Assists with administering the benefit plans, including by not limited to, determining employee and retiree eligibility and contribution level, with direction from Benefits team members.
Assists the Leave Management team members with various tasks, as needed.
Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
Thorough knowledge of contracts, plan provisions, and benefits administration specifically related to cafeteria plans, welfare plans and retirement plans.
Technical knowledge of benefit laws (ERISA) and applicable State regulations.
Working knowledge of the principles of general accounting normally acquired through successful completion of college level courses or equivalent experience.
Strong working knowledge of personal computers and other office applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Basic knowledge of trends and available resources in benefits administration.
Skills Requirements

Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years of Human Resources professional experience, preferably 3 years focusing on Benefits Administration.
