Abbott National Tender Manager - Rapid Diagnostics in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

As a National Tender Manager, you will play a crucial role in our organization by overseeing the tender process, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maximizing business opportunities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, regulatory and finance, to prepare and submit competitive bids through distributors. Your attention to detail, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking will contribute to our success. Winning tenders in Vietnam involves a combination of strategic planning, relationship-building, and adherence to local regulations.

Location: This position is based in Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Understanding the Public market dynamics for Vietnam:

Strong understanding of the tender process in Vietnam and be able to create a tender winning strategy for the business.

  • Market Research:

  • Investigate the Vietnamese market thoroughly. Understand the tender quota per hospital and have a clear strategy to won per hospital.

  • Analyze historical tender data to identify patterns and competitive environment.

  • Legal and Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Familiarize yourself with Vietnam’s procurement laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Understand the specific requirements for participating in public tenders.

  • Strategic Positioning:

  • Develop a clear value proposition working closely with marketing. Highlight your unique selling points and tender dossiers.

  • Tailor your bids to address specific needs outlined in tender documents.

  • Emphasize cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.

  • Risk Assessment:

  • Evaluate risks associated with participating in tenders (e.g., financial risks, legal risks, project execution risks).

  • Mitigate risks by having contingency plans and robust risk management strategies.

2. Sub Distributor Selection:

  • Create a framework for sub distributor selection via eligibility criteria creation to ensure an increased probability to win in the country.

3. Bid Preparation:

  • Review the requirements per hospital basis.

  • Clarify bid conditions and manage the tender preparation process.

  • Monitor bid management to align with organizational requirements.

  • Contribute to cost and price calculations.

4. Financial Evaluation

  • Prepare bid financial evaluation forms.

  • Analyze and evaluate bidding documents, especially the financial part.

  • Negotiate bidding prices with bidders.

5. Commercial Acumen:

  • Possess the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively. This skill is crucial for making informed business decisions based on data-driven insights.

  • Tender Analysis and Competitor Insights:

  • Analyze competitors’ strategies, strengths, weaknesses, and market positioning.

  • Provide actionable recommendations to guide strategic decision-making.

6. Collaboration:

  • Liaise with sales team across the country to increase tender winning rates.

  • Work closely with sub -distributors to support in bid and documentation preparation consulting closely with marketing, regulatory and other cross functions team members.

  • project managers, design managers, estimators, and senior personnel.

  • Conduct team briefings once bids have been secured.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain).

  • Proven experience in sales and /or tender management or related roles.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Familiarity with procurement regulations and industry practices.
