Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Stress Engineer located in Hauppauge, NY. The Senior Stress Engineer will be responsible for performing thermal and mechanical stress analyses, design engineering, reliability and life calculations, and structural response (shock and vib) analyses, and failure analysis. The role will involve hands on work as well to test hypothesis and theories, and to understand DFM. It will also require you to use standard FA equipment to drive to root cause as required. Position requires individual to also mentor and assist other team members in terms of math problems, computation, and simulation.

Your work is important and will directly impact design solutions that go into defense, aerospace, space, deep sea technologies that require ultra high reliability and structural integrity and performance, impacting millions of lives.

Qualifications

  • US Citizens only
  • 8 years of daily FEA experience (ANSYS, ABAQUS, etc.)
  • MS or PhD or Professorship in Engineering regardless of major (civil, structural, mechanical, materials, aerospace, etc. are welcome)
  • Prior experience working for top FEA simulation software companies preferred
  • Thorough understanding of FEA fundamentals (stress tensors, eigenvalue problems, element definitions, meshing)
  • Strong foundation in solid and structural mechanics, material properties, vibration governing equations, and heat transfer
  • Hands on math calculation ability to check your simulation results
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and analysis and know how to cross check and validate your work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • This position reports directly to the Director of Mechanical Engineering
