Community Health Systems Physical Therapy Tech, PRN in HATTIESBURG, Mississippi

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Director, provides assistance with patient care, maintenance of department cleanliness, equipment inventory and receptionist support for the department. Assists therapy staff with identification and transportation needs for patient care in the rehab treatment areas and with the coordination of care between rehab and nursing floors.

Essential Functions

  • Assists therapist with patient care.Standards:Completes patient transfers and transports in a safe manner adhering to weight bearing status, contraindications, precautions and proper body mechanics at all timesMonitors patients to assure accurate follow through with therapist’s exercise instructions. Prepares and cleans therapy area for patient use adhering to protocols and assists with treatments as appropriate*Delivers all documentation and equipment to the appropriate unit on a daily basis and within established time frames

  • Completes all routine checks for the department.Standards:Maintains temperature logs, hot/cold therapy logs and refrigerator temperature logs as outlined by company standardsMaintains all areas of the department in a clean and orderly fashion as defined by the Rehab Tech Responsibility listPrepares and maintains appropriate number of packets for specialty areasMaintains central service stock at appropriate levels for the department

  • Performs general office functionsStandards:Completes tasks accurately and timely (filing, photocopying, mail distribution, logging of orders, therapist notification, schedule board, cleaning)Completes patient transport schedule daily and delivers in a timely mannerServes as a receptionist for the departmentProcesses patient charges accurately and timely*Distributes reports and forms of communication in an efficient and timely manner

  • Establishes and maintains positive lines of communication and standards of courtesy with internal and external customers.Standards:

  • Utilizes appropriate phone etiquetteDemonstrates courtesy and understanding when dealing with customer requestsMaintains positive demeanor when dealing with difficult situations

  • Utilizes sound professional judgment based on knowledge, skill, education, training and experienceStandards:Abides by core business values and ethics as outlined by the companyEstablishes and maintains effective working relationship with patients/families, co-workers, other health care professionals and the communityTakes responsibility for own actionsAssumes responsibility for professional growth and development

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED or its equivalent required

  • 0-1 years Customer service work helpful but not required preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates basic understanding of patient transfers, transport and a patient care environment.

  • Demonstrates basic understanding of therapy treatment principles.

  • Requires basic understanding of the related behaviors, needs and comfort appropriate to age (including infant, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patients served in order to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.

  • Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language both verbal and written.

Licenses and Certifications

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
