Michigan State Job Bank Project Engineer in Hastings, Michigan

Project Engineer - Reports to: AME Manger

Leads the engineering development of new manufacturing equipment, products and processes by performing the following duties:

  • Identifies, prepares and proposes new manufacturing equipment capital expenditure requests that include costs, ROIs and timelines.
  • Plans, organizes and leads large engineering projects from conceptualization to launch.
  • Confers with applications engineering, industrial controls, manufacturing and outside integrators to ensure equipment requirements are met.
  • Prepares and adheres to project schedules and raises issues to meet project deadlines and takes necessary steps to resolve.
  • Conceptualizes, designs and details key elements of new automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Monitors project expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares or coordinates preparation of system layout, detailed drawings, 3D models and schematics and all other engineering documentation.
  • Develops project risk summaries and coordinates with project teams or outside integrators to mitigate risk.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specification changes and drawing releases.
  • Provides technical support for existing processes.
  • Mentors' junior engineers.
  • Process's new part orders including designing of parts, writing Master Data Sheets and designing and ordering of tooling.
  • Performs product launch process, including new part quote, new part set-up, and prototype builds adhering to the appropriate product development tools as required (APQP, CP, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc....).

     

*QUALIFICATIONS: *

  • BS in Engineering or related technical degree.
  • Three to five years in product or process development.
  • Experience in multiple functional areas preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience using 3D CAD software for design.
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects from concept to successful launch or implementation.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in automated technology.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls, mechatronics and a basic understanding of PLCs.
