Description
Summary Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electrochemical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
Places orders for gaging and gaging services and tracks budget/capital monies
Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment
Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects
Measures parts for conformity with specifications
Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry
Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment
Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations
Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment
Perform daily inspections on equipment
Perform preventive maintenance per instructions for machine or equipment
Follow all safety and housekeeping rules, policies, and procedures.
Perform any other job-related duties per direction of supervisor or lead person.
Record required information, either in written or electronic form, pertinent to production, quality, and time records.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software. Overall understanding of Windows Operating Systems and programs.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Should be familiar with, have prior use of, or ability to be trained in the use of micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gage blocks, rings & plugs, nital etch and other measuring equipment as required.
