Job Title: Manual Lathe Machinist

Job Description

Operate multiple manual lathe machines throughout the shop to create and repair boat components. The ideal candidate needs to be mechanically inclined and must own a set of micrometers and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Operate various manual lathe machines to create and repair boat components.

• Work with horizontal and vertical lathes, drill presses, and bandsaws.

• Measure and convert fractions to decimals accurately within a tolerance of 0+- .001.

• Read machinist scales and blueprints.

• Set up machines for different materials, including bearings, brass, iron, and Duramax.

• Ensure all work is completed to high precision and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in manual machining.

• Proficiency in operating lathe machines.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Experience with micrometers and calipers.

• Mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with various materials such as bearings, brass, iron, and Duramax.

• Ability to work independently and follow safety protocols strictly.

Work Environment

Work in a boat yard, which includes working outside in various conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. Adherence to PPE requirements is mandatory, with safety/PPE violations leading to immediate termination. The second shift requires working Monday through Friday, while weekends and overtime are assigned as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hahnville, Louisiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
