JOB TITLE: Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Electrical Engineer Specialist
This position is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and you need to be willing to relocate to Puerto Rico or currently live in Puerto Rico to be considered.

YOU ARE:
A person who has lived and breathed engineering, construction, project management and project controls who likes to think big-picture and help find solutions. You have a solid working knowledge and experience in the engineering documentation and information management processes required to build and modernize physical assets, infrastructure, and buildings. You have experience and/or interests in digital solutions that can help clients do more. You are good with people and eager to learn new project and product solutions. You are comfortable supporting project leads during meetings and workshops, and able to support with material and content development.
THE WORK:
You’ll lead as the Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) on Transmission & Substation (T&S) projects, with a focus on the Transformer Replacement Program at LUMA PR.
You’ll oversee transformer installation and related projects from initial design through construction, ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices.
You’ll review and validate design studies, equipment specifications, and protection requirements, making recommendations to clients.
You’ll support commissioning tasks for large equipment, including managing activity logs and resolving technical challenges.
You’ll ensure the quality of engineering deliverables by managing document reviews and approvals, and maintaining compliance with applicable codes and standards.
You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across engineering disciplines and construction teams to address and resolve technical issues.
You’ll maintain project records, generate material requests, and ensure timely procurement of long-lead items.
You’ll develop recommendations to improve cost-effectiveness and project performance while supporting a safe work environment.
You’ll provide training and technical guidance to team members and clients, enhancing overall project delivery.
You’ll perform periodic reviews and participate in status meetings to monitor progress and address any issues promptly.
Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets safety requirements.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with electrical transmission and substation projects.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
Licensed Professional Engineer or Certification of Engineer in Training
Graduate Degree or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management
Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems, applying advanced engineering principles and solving problems using industry standards, codes, and best practices.
Knowledge and experience with recloser work, aerial and underground residential distribution systems, and interpreting and managing construction documents.
Proficiency in organizing, reporting, and evaluating project activity progress data, including planned, actual, accrued, and forecasted information, to support project success.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to influence project decisions and manage stakeholder inputs effectively.
