Spectrum Systems Engineer II Greenwood Village, Colorado
JOB SCOPE
Responsible for assisting in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide reporting and network inventory Operations Support Systems (OSS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases. Responsible for Application Administration of OSS applications supporting network discovery, network inventory management, and associated integrations for all Charter Divisions. Will participate in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions with a heavy emphasis on increasing security compliance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Contributes to design sessions with OSS Architects, Requirements Analysts, IT Operations, and OSS Systems Engineers.
Reviews existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality.
Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services.
Creates work effort estimates for assigned tasks and support prioritization and release management.
Develops of core code modules, unit test tools and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes.
Installs, administers, configures and maintains OSS applications including operating systems and related software.
Provides 'on call' support to resolve OSS application issues after normal business hours.
Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window).
Works with database administrators to configure, tune, and maintain databases in variety of languages.
Documents systems configurations and upgrades.
Designs and implements change control policies and disaster recovery plans.
Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions, and system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance, and storage resources.
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Demonstrated in-depth ability to conduct design sessions to specify solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality
Demonstrated in-depth ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications
Demonstrated in-depth ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures
Demonstrated in-depth ability to troubleshoot application problems
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of OSS applications and software
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring, and control of the systems engineering process
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; May require Industry Standard Certifications
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Application Development experience in relevant areas - 3
Network OSS application experience at enterprise scale - 2
Linux-based System Administration experience - 2
Scripting and/or programming skills (e.g. Python, shell, Perl, PHP) - 2
Database support and development experience - 2
Experience in Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) - 2
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to build out and manage servers (RHEL, Rocky Linux) on VM and physical hardware, and navigate via CLI (creating directories files, modifying code files/directories, security on host user/permissions)
Ability to implement automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, Swimlane, etc
Ability to support network troubleshooting: Routing, DNS, NTP, etc
Experience with data/log mining tools (Splunk, Elastic), application monitoring tools (DataDog, AppDynamics), security scanning and endpoint management agents
Familiarity with relational databases, SQL, and neo4j/graph databases
Working knowledge of Git, Remedy, Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence), and Grafana
Preferred Education
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent
IT security certifications or trainings covering application, network, hardware, and physical security
Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years

Office Environment, currently supports 4/1 hybrid schedule

The base pay for this position generally is between $75,200.00 and $120,000.00 . The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
