JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job ID: 21069 WORKING TITLE: Multicultural Advisor UW SYSTEM OFFICIAL TITLE: Multicultural Initiatives Specialist POSTING DATE: July 8, 2024 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position reports to Assistant Vice Chancellor of Inclusive Excellence and advises multicultural student organizations and student leadership and affiliates, develops and executes programming, and serves on institutional committees to support multicultural students and their allies. This position includes the following responsibilities: -Provides consultation, resources, and referrals concerning multicultural affairs to various audiences. Meet with prospective and enrolled multicultural students to advise on multicultural resources and refer to campus and community resources. -Provides advising leadership for delegated student organizations in developing and implementing sustainable leadership practices; and navigating established policies, procedures, and resource management strategies. -Develops programs/activities to enhance awareness and appreciation for cultural diversity on campuses. Serves as liaison to various committees regarding initiatives and best practices to support multicultural student success. -Participate as an instructor in Pre-college/TRIO summer programs and other programs as assigned. Maintain records for reporting as needed. SPECIAL NOTES: Travel is necessary for meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. Occasional evenings and/or weekend work may occur. Travel may include accompanying students to conferences. Position is a full-time, Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s).
