Title Patient Check-in Specialist Category Patient Financial Services Location Golden Valley Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Shift Days Work schedule Req Number PAT-24-00006 Open Date 7/8/2024 Description As a Patient Check-In Specialist, you are the first point of contact with patients as they walk in our doors. Your friendly, warm greeting can help to put them at ease. This position is an integral part of our healthcare team! DESCRIPTION: On behalf of MCN patients and providers, this position's responsibilities consist of activities that best prepare a patient to see a provider at MCN. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Gather and confirm patient information prior to a patient's scheduled appointment including patient demographics, medical information/continuity of care documents, test results, health & history questionnaires, etc. Information is input into the patient's chart via data entry or scanning. Verify patient insurance via real-time eligibility system and enter data into practice management system. Check-in patients as they arrive for their medical appointments. Greet patients warmly, take patient photos, verify demographics and insurance information and collect copays as needed. Scan outside records the patient may bring to the visit. May cover check-in responsibilities at other MCN locations on occasion. Monitor provider schedules and verify insurance on upcoming patient appointments. Position Requirements Minimum Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED equivalent. At least one year of previous medical office experience; experience with chart prep, Medical Records and insurance highly desired (e.g., Patient Access Specialist or Automated Medical Records Clerk). Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Patient centered; strong customer service orientation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Accurate and precise reading and writing skills. Ability to work independently, exhibit mature judgment and make sound decisions. Knowledge of medical insurances, medical terminology and ICD-10/CPT coding. Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion. Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficiency with Practice Management System. Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
