Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Billing and Business Office Specialist will be responsible for managing medical billing, insurance claims, and patient account inquiries. Shift information:

  • Flexible part-time hours
  • Monday-Friday  8am-4pm
  • Onsite

What you will do as a Billing and Business Office Specialist:

  • Review and post charges for patient visits with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims, including appeals for denied claims
  • Maintain updated patient insurance information and verify coverage and benefits
  • Process prior authorizations and ensure timely sign-offs as necessary
  • Post payments, reconcile accounts, and manage outstanding balances
  • Interact with patients in a compassionate and upbeat manner, providing assistance with billing inquiries and resolving concerns professionally

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 1 year of medical billing experience (ophthalmology or vision experience preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; AA or BS degree and billing/coding certification preferred
  • Strong computer proficiency, including experience with medical billing software, electronic health records, and Microsoft Office; experience with Nextech programs (Practice+ and Intellechart) preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills with a patient-first mindset
