The General Laborer performs a wide variety of manual tasks designated by the supervisor, including:

• Hand digging with a shovel
• Jack hammering asphalt/concrete
• Carrying a wide variety of materials and tools
• Signaling equipment operators to facilitate alignment or adjustment of materials or equipment
• Operating small pieces of equipment such as cut-off saws, compaction equipment, and light vehicles
• Assisting supervisor with setting up grade stakes and setting inlets, manholes, and water valve boxes to grade.
• Using hand tools
