Description

The position of Sustaining Program Manager is within our Infectious Disease (ID) business unit located at Galway, Ireland. This role will be part of overseeing the end-to-end program management of on market changes. The Sustaining Program Manager will report directly to the Sustaining Manager within the Program Management Office (PMO).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Acts as global leader for cross-functional project teams: Manages all activities from Ideation through product launch execution for high-priority products

  • Sustaining has primary responsibility for leading program management efforts for on market sustaining activities in the Infectious Diseases portfolio. This includes determining business case for requested on market changes, budgets, scope, and risks for future and existing platforms, products, and features. Partakes in periodic reviews with leadership to manage the pipeline efficiently. Works cross-functionally with core team and functional managers to ensure that programs meet objectives and timelines.

  • Translates strategies into program/project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements; Continually tracks progress against those plans.

  • Responsible for all reporting activities associated with program, responsible for collecting and collating all inputs from cross functional teams to support project reviews with leadership and relevant stakeholders.

  • Determines and manages appropriate governance structure for projects/programs.

  • Guides functional workstream leads (project managers) to identify and escalate project risks and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Establishes and leads proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the senior leadership team, program/project teams, and matrix stakeholders through monthly governance meeting.

  • Completes capacity assessment (people, financial measures) and ability to meet plans and timelines. Highlights gaps and resolves with functional leaders.

  • Support the leadership of a monthly Governance Process, reporting out directly to senior leadership.

  • Working globally across 6 manufacturing sites, across different language barriers.

  • Coaches and mentors indirect reports (Global Marketing, Regional Marketing, Regional Sales Directors, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, R&D, Regulatory, Operations) to ensure a comprehensive, integrated program strategy that delivers outcomes of strategic importance to the business

  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement and seeks regular feedback from leadership and stakeholders.

  • Ensures that the cross-functional members work as a “team” focused on business unit goals identified and manages program and solution interdependencies.

  • Identifies and escalates project risks and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Responsible for generating formal training materials and leading education sessions for all functional areas and regions.

  • Establishes and leads proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the senior leadership team, program/project teams, and matrix stakeholders.

  • Responsible for setting the strategy and implementing formal training materials and leading education sessions for all functional areas and regions.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree which could include supply chain, engineering, science, IT or equivalent business disciplines.

  • 7 or more years of experience in Project Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or related function, preferably in medical device, pharmaceutical or consumer products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more professional certifications or equivalent experience (e.g., PMP)

  • Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate and mitigate risks, lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall

  • Experience managing with ambiguity; demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems, exercise sound judgment and independently determine appropriate course of action where precedent may not exist

  • Strong communication skills – in English in written and verbal; briefing, presentation, education/training skills

  • Able to influence without authority

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

  • Ability to create & manage a vision, think strategically, plan and organize, innovate, analyse complex data and situations, and exercise sound judgment

Travel Expectations

Ability to travel approximately 10-15%, including internationally.
