Materials Manager

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Associate, Materials Management to oversee material supporting operations. This role involves broad responsibilities and opportunities in a small, entrepreneurial environment, reporting to our Director, Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to all areas related to Materials Management operations to meet company needs.

  • Coordinate all shipments received from requestors to the Materials Management group.

  • Manage all documentation, booking forms, customs documents, waybills, etc.

  • Work with the Materials Management team to complete all shipments efficiently and accurately.

  • Monitor performance of our transportation carriers.

  • Coordinate with transportation carriers and evaluate carrier performance.

  • Initiate and monitor shipments from our third-party warehouses.

  • Maintain and update the internal Shipment tracker.

  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Maintain accurate inventory; receive, verify, and enter material into the ERP system.

  • Pack/ship material following IATA/DOT regulations.

  • Process requests in a timely manner to meet company needs.

  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet material movement requirements.

  • Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, and storage areas.

  • Work off-hours or weekends as needed.

  • Ensure work environment remains safe and clean.

Essential Skills

  • 2-4 years experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics.

  • Experience in Pharma/Biopharmaceutical or related industry in support of a GMP-compliant manufacturing environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of shipping regulations and shipping documentation.

  • Ability to utilize an ERP inventory application, review email notifications to process, receive, and ship orders accurately.

  • Ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

  • Experience with standards, practices, and guidelines relevant to a pharmaceutical and cGMP environment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other Materials Management colleagues.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to focus on assignments and seek assistance as needed to meet operational needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems.

  • Familiarity with GMP regulations.

  • Proficiency in SAP.

  • Experience with warehouse and distribution operations.

  • Knowledge of packing and shipping materials.

Work Environment

You will work in a warehouse and distribution setting within a GMP environment, ensuring it remains clean and safe. The position follows standard business hours (8am-5pm) with occasional off-hours or weekend work as needed. The role involves working at multiple locations in Gaithersburg, requiring movement between sites. Proper PPE, including gloves and safety glasses, is provided and required. Steel toes or composite shoes are necessary for occasional use of a pallet jack. No heavy lifting is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
