MACON PROGRAM FOR PROGRESS INC Head Start Teacher in Franklin, North Carolina
Head Start Teacher Full time, 12 month
POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for working cooperatively with the Lead Teacher to assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate practices, routines and activities of a Head Start classroom/center in accordance with the policies, procedures, and philosophy of Macon Program for Progress Board, Policy Council, NCDCDEE, and Administration for Children and Families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- NC Early Childhood Certificate (NCECC), required within one year of hire.
- Childhood Development Associate Certificate (CDA), required within one year of hire.
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification, required within the first 6 weeks of hired date.
- Two years experience working with children, preferred.
- CDL, required or willingness and ability to obtain.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, sort correspondence and memos.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Lead Teacher in implementing a designated and appropriate research-based early childhood curricula.
- Employs age appropriate child guidance techniques.
- Supervises the children at all times in the classroom and on the playground.
- Observes children and records observations, assists in maintaining records and reports as required.
- Maintains ongoing communication with parents striving to achieve parental involvement in classroom and activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
