U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Interdisciplinary (Civil Engineer) in Fort Shafter, Hawaii

Summary About the Position: Serves as Pacific Ocean Division (POD) Senior Regional Engineer for Civil Works, subject matter expert, and technical advisor for all engineering aspects of the Civil Works Program throughout the Division. Provides technical expertise and interface for design, construction, and rehabilitation of a diverse range of projects that include harbors, navigation, dams, powerhouses, canals, storm damage protection, flood control, water supply, levees and environmental restoration. Responsibilities Formulates and proposes technical policies to districts regarding the overall Civil Works engineering design and related programs as well as policies associated with their professional series to ensure that sound design documents are prepared. Principal advisor to the Chief, Engineering and Construction Division, on Civil Works design and related engineering issues. Represents the Division in Civil Works engineering related meetings with Congressional representatives and senior assistants. Serves as the authorized Civil Works engineering representative for POD, representing the Chief, Engineering and Construction Division, on regional, national, and international task groups, boards and commissions. Serves as the district Quality Control review team member for engineering matters on highly complex and/or technically unique projects. Provides guidance to the Water Resources, Planning, and Real Estate Offices and to the districts involving direct application of engineering principles to the solution of water resources problems. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral Communication Project Management Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
