U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

Summary About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principal administrative support assistant. Attends organizational operational support conferences, meetings, and events as required and disseminates information that is obtained to all staff. This is a developmental position with the full performance level being GS-06. Management may select at either grade level. Responsibilities At the developmental level (GS-05), you will perform assignments under closer than normal supervision. The full performance level (GS-06) entails the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Provide sound, courteous direction to inquirers. Assemble information, makes recommendations, analyzes and provides read ahead reports as required for the Director and/or Deputy Director prior to key appointments. Maintain and update documents to include points of contact, emergency action plans, staff notes, performance metrics, and performs administrative tasks. Identify and assist with resolving problems and issues with electronic staffing, payroll and/or time keeping. Monitor civilian and military performance evaluations as required by the Director and/or Deputy Director. Assist in maintaining multiple schedules and coordinates meetings for multiple senior leaders. Monitor and assist with training associated with the Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS), the Defense Travel System (DTS), and the Major Command’s Electronic Staffing System. QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing Microsoft Office to create various documents and/or reports and providing customer service both oral and in writing. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). -OR- Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-06:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Microsoft Office to prepare correspondence and reports AND experience in at least two of the following areas: utilizing web-based applications and databases to include SharePoint to organize and manage documents, assisting in maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments for office staff, resolving issues with timekeeping or payroll, or making travel arrangements utilizing an automated database. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-06 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Typing Proficiency: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Clerical Computer Skills Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Written Communication GS-05 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). GS-06 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
