At present there is one part-time vacancy in the Washington County Department of Public Health. This examination is also being held to establish an eligible list to be used as vacancies may exist or occur in the Washington County Department of Public Health in Fort Edward, New York during the life of the Eligible List. STARTING SALARY: $29.61/hour

DATE OF EXAMINATION:MAY 17, 2025 APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED UP TO: MARCH 28, 2025

RESIDENCY: Candidate must have been a legal resident of Washington, Warren, Saratoga or Rensselaer County for at least one month immediately preceding the date of the written test.

DUTIES: * This position involves responsibility for technical work nutrition components of the WIC program, a supplementary food and nutrition education program for women, infants and children from low-income areas or families who are at nutritional risk. * The position involves assessment of nutritional needs of clients, planning for the provision of a food package and counseling appropriately for the individuals physical and medical needs, and providing nutrition education to adequately meet their regular and therapeutic needs. * The work is performed under the general supervision of the WIC Program Coordinator with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the professional nutritional details of the job. Supervision may be exercised over the work of WIC Nutrition Aides and other staff involved with nutritional aspects of the program. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: On or before 5/17/2025, to be eligible for this examination, applicant must meet the following minimum qualifications: A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university with a Bachelors Degree or higher in a health-related field with six (6) credit hours in Nutrition; OR B) Must be Registered as a Dietitian or Nutritionist (RD/RDN)

Some applicants may be eligible for VETERANS CREDITS: Veterans or disabled veterans who are eligible for additional credit must complete the veterans credit section of their application for examination and submit a copy of their DD214 Member 4 copy.
