Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures. Pharmacy Technician activities are performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, 12 months a year. The Pharmacy Technician reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager.
A signing bonus of up to $1,500 may be considered for successful candidates.

Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures. Pharmacy Technician activities are performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
The salary is $45,396 – $50,550 ($21.82 – $24.30/ per hour); Salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications and level of job duties.

In addition to Level 1 job duties (see Essential Job Duties), Level 2 job duties include:
Special ordering products for providers
Make inventory adjustments for casual sale orders
Provide the accounting department with invoices from the casual sale orders
Completing required spreadsheets for casual sales
Managing expired medication
Assisting the lead pharmacy technician with order points on drugs
Help keep inventory counts correct
Performing special billing for the student health plan
Process returns to wholesalers
Perform DSCSA checks for each order
Serve on a committee within the CSU Health Network
Attend new student/parent orientations to serve as a resource for questions
Manage reconciliation reports
Perform refunds within the pharmacy software/ POS system
Assist with training of other pharmacy technicians and cashiers as directed

Certifications
Current, valid certification or provisional certification as a Pharmacy Technician from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy
Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board ( PTCB )
Experience
- One year of experience labeling, storing, and filling medications in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting .
Substitutions
Completion of 500 hours of pharmacy technician training may substitute for one year of experience.

Calculates and communicates accurate wait times to both patient and pharmacy team

Answers phone calls, troubleshoots problems related to refills, and communicates with other health care professionals via phone and/or fax

Handles prescription reversals, returns non-picked up prescription to stock, and patient insurance rebills
