Inotiv, Inc. Laboratory Animal Care Technician in Fort Collins, Colorado
The Animal Care Technician is responsible for assisting the group with maintaining the well-being of animals in accordance with all SOPs, applicable state and federal regulations, as well as guidelines set forth by the on-site clinical veterinarian.
Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours: Variable daytime hours, typically starting between 6-8am Weekend & Holiday Rotation Overtime available

Responsibilities & Duties Corporate Follow all SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company policies and procedures Maintain confidential information General Support and participate in company initiatives as directed. Ability to read/write English and understand scientific protocols and reports. Perform periodic review of all applicable SOPs to ensure accuracy and confirm procedures are being performed according to SOPs. Participate in SOP writing, reviews, and revisions, as needed. Complete training requirements as assigned and maintain appropriate training documentation. Maintain compliance and adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures Maintain thorough knowledge and ensure compliance with GLPs, USDA, AAALAC, OLAW and other applicable regulations.
Specific Perform routine husbandry (food, water, cleaning pens) for a variety of animal species. Perform general room cleaning procedures. Perform animal husbandry sanitization and water monitoring. Complete daily animal welfare check and animal husbandry records. Perform animal receiving procedures including preparation of cage cards and completion of animal receipt records. Ensure animals have adequate space, safe and secure housing, and appropriate enrichment Provide animal transportation for acquisition and disposal. Ensures animals well-being, health and sanitation is adequate Learns to perform daily observations and recording into the electronic data capture system or on paper records. Learns to restrain a variety of animal species. Learns to perform entry and study start physical exams. Monitor temperature and humidity in animal rooms and report HVAC issues. Assist with stocking supplies, monitoring for expiration, and notifying appropriate employee of items that need to be ordered. Study protocol and notebook review prior to study initiation. Feed, bedding, and animal facility supply ordering and inventory maintenance. Perform pest monitoring for rodents and insects. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements Education and experience HS diploma/GED required. Animal handling experience preferred ALAT Certification or commitment to attaining certification within 18 months of start date. Willingness to participate in continual training opportunities Skills and abilities Good organizational skills and detail oriented. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization. Must have the ability to work independently as well as a team environment. Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a high energy, fast paced environment. Proficient in the use of a computer to compile and maintain simple data, spreadsheets, checklists and reports for records and inventory, utilizing the appropriate software. Exhibits an aptitude for quality, an eye for detail, the ability to follow written instructions and work with a minimum of supervision. Displays a basic understanding of GLP, AAALAC, OLAW regulations and standards with the ability to apply these practices daily. Demonstrates a working knowledge and awareness of general laboratory procedures.
