Job Description:

This role serves as a liaison between GDIT and new or existing external data centers and will be responsible for all High Performance Computing (HPC) facility-related physical infrastructure matters. These duties include planning and coordinating all elements of data center facilities work needed prepare for installation, upgrades and support of HPC systems. These elements include electrical power capacity and connectivity, equipment layout, cooling requirements (liquid and air cooling), cable management and computer room access control. A main activity in this role would be to work with the computer system vendor and the data center to plan the data center activities needed to support the power and cooling requirements and physical layout. This person would own the execution of the project plan for data center preparation and operations. This work would include periodic review of technical requirements and change management along with monitoring of data center fit up with respect to the project plan. This role would also involve testing and verification of data center facilities against stated requirements. This role reports to the program management team. Occasional travel to data center sites is required.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (electrical, civil, industrial or similar)

  • Ten years experience with data centers and computer systems involving facilities planning, facilities management, computer system installation

  • Proficiency and understanding of data center environment including AC power, liquid and air cooling, heat transfer, physical security, ASHRAE standards

  • Ability to read and understand computer system environmental requirements and specifications along with data center documents including power types and connectivity, liquid cooling, heat exchangers, UPS systems, critical power requirements, and Machine Unit Specifications

  • Familiarity with commercial data centers and data center management

  • Experience creating and executing Microsoft Project plans

  • Ability to manage vendor work and maintain schedules

  • An ideal candidate would have recent experience planning and executing the installation of computer equipment into commercial data centers

The likely salary range for this position is $92,331 - $69,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
