Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in the non-profit industry, based in Fairfax, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for processing invoices, check requests, expense reports and travel advances. You will also be involved in check processing, verification and filing, as well as providing support to the Accounts Payable Department.

Responsibilities:

• Process invoices, check requests, expense reports and travel advances accurately and efficiently

• Conduct check processing, verification and filing

• Review and verify invoices and check requests for compliance with multi-state sales and use tax, proper approval and coding

• Provide overall support to the Accounts Payable Department

• Use Microsoft Excel, MS Dynamics SL and other accounting functions to perform tasks efficiently

• Handle data entry tasks with accuracy and precision

• Monitor expenditures for 1099 compliance and take appropriate action where necessary

• Resolve customer inquiries related to accounts payable and expense reports. Requirements • Minimum of one year experience in an Accounts Payable Specialist role or similar position

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Dynamics SL

• Knowledge and understanding of accounting functions and principles

• Experience with accounts payable (AP) processes and procedures

• Familiarity with check processing and data entry tasks

• Understanding of sales tax regulations and expense report management

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to shared goals

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
